Beauty: Double Standards, Appropriation, and Reclamation
This workshop dives into Double Standards society places on women. What men can do and we can not. As well as the contributions women of color have brought to the world of beauty which can often be "forgotten" when it becomes mainstream and the concern of cultural appropriation comes into play. Lastly reclamation of the proud and firm stance we take when defining what is beauty to us.

Black Latinidad in the US
The father of the Pan-African movement, W.E.B. DuBois, discussed the idea of double consciousness, and Black Latinindad in the US falls on the shoulders of what Dr. DuBois was speaking of. In fact, being a Black Latino in the US is a triple identity. Managing what it means to be Black, Latin and an American can be extremely complex. This workshop discusses maintaining our pride in all 3 while not feeling like an outsider in any of those realms.

This workshop explores the commodification of our bodies for profit and creation of economic infrastructures. Medical myths, misconceptions and exploits. Debunking hypersexualization and exotic festish constantly imposed on the Black and Brown Body. A celebration and liberation of our views, love and ownership of oneself.
